As a final project for my Literacy in Early Years (CLD 314) course, I created a newsletter that outlined how literacy would be implemented in the classroom for the upcoming year in my imaginary preschool named Deer Valley Preschool. This was highlighted in upcoming activities and events such as creating a cereal box sign, animal inventions, cultural story night and a trip to the Art Gallery of Ontario! The newsletter outlined the four areas of literacy development: oral, reading, writing & drawing, and media. I also provided at home techniques for parents to support literacy, online resources, books and programs for families, like international language programs offered on Saturdays . This project was a creative way in recapping what I had learned in the course, as well as providing ideas on how I can embed literacy based activities in my future placements.
