For children who are sensory-sensitive, this activity was planned for them to be exposed to various textures and be comfortable with exploring unfamiliar activities. Using baby oil-gel, children worked with the educator to create their own sensory bags. The educator held the plastic bags open while the children squeezed the gel into the bags. After filling it up, children picked their favourite sequins and shook the stars, hearts or circles into the bag. After sealing the bags, children decided to place the clear bags over the light table. This provided a different opportunity for sensory exploration in the area of light, transparency and shiny glitter.

This activity supported the various learning needs through communication (i.e. first I will pour the gel, then I will add the stars), eye tracking (i.e. watching the gel fall), and sensory exploration (i.e. squishing the bags in-between fingers).
