To facilitate children's gross motor skills, a path created with masking tape was used for children to balance on the line and hop to the empty spots. Overall, this activity was open-ended as this set-up was provided in the classroom with no further instructions. Spontaneously children found wooden letters and placed it along the line. To further facilitate this exploration, the wooden letters were taped down along the line for the activity in the following day. Children responded to this as if it was a scavenger hunt! Pulling off the pieces, they would recite the alphabet and collect all the letters together.
